Hollow Woodworks trains are made from maple wood so they will not splinter. They are colored with child safe coloring. The train cars are designed to fit on the Brio and Thomas wooden train tracks. Environmental Considerations:
Hollow Woodworks operates using the three R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! They reduce all scrap outlay by maximizing the use of the wood that they cut. Wood scraps are cut into shapes and donated to local school districts, day cares and charities. Remaining scraps are donated to a family who reuses the wood scraps for heating their home. Sawdust is taken away by another person who reuses it for their horse stable.
Hollow Woodworks uses both sides of their paper and then the scrap is shredded for use as packing in their boxes. They actively seek out packing peanuts and bubble wrap that people and offices have received, then reuse that for ther packing. They recycle all of their cardboard, newspapers and magazines with their local town, and they actively seek ways to reduce paperwork as much as possible. In fact, they have reduced their trash flow to so little that they discard less than 1 residential trash can a week!
